Xingmincun Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Southern peninsula of Liaoning. The Xingmincun Fm was named by Yu Jianzhang (C. C. Yu) by 1959. The naming section is located at Xingmincun Village, Beishan, Jinxian County, Liaoning Province.
Synonym: (兴民村组)
Lithology and Thickness
The Xingmincun Fm consists of three parts. Lower part is gray, brown-gray thin- to medium-thick bedded glauconite-bearing quartz sandstone interbedded with silty shale. Middle part is yellowish-green, purple shale, silty shale with marl. Upper part is gray, black-gray limestone with shale. Quartz sandstone with glauconite in the bottom lies conformably on the underlying Cuijiatun Formation. The lithology of this formation is very stable. It is mainly distributed in Jianxian County, the thickness is up to 341 m in Wangjiatuan, Jinxian County, and it somewhat thins in Beishan, and decreases eastwards to 242 m in Liangshuiwan. The total thickness is 127-341 m.

Microplants are Leiopsophosphaera infriata, Lophosphaeridium aff. acietatum, Leiofusa obovata, Leiominuscula minuta, Archaeodiscina xingmincunensis, Nucellosphaeridium fengyangensis, Pseudofavososphaera aff. kepingensis, Pseudo- zonosphaera aff. nucleolata, Tylosphaeridium induratum, Tasmanites uariabilis, T. jinxianensis, Scaphita eniseica, Macroptycha perforata, M. nucleolata, M multiplicata, M. triplicata etc.; Stromatolites: Xingmincunella xingmincunensis, Hunjiangia jinxianensis, Boxonia cf. lissa, Patomia qidingshanensis; Medusa: Cyclomedusa, Paracyclomedusa, Discifera.
